So what is hypnosis?
In fact hypnosis is something that we all experience everyday quite naturally and can be described as an altered state of consciousness. For example, it is like the moment just before you fall asleep or the moment just after you have woken up when everything is well with the world. You are so deeply relaxed that you just can’t be bothered to move. Or when you are so absorbed in a book or a film or a conversation that you just don't notice what is going on around you. When you are so relaxed it is possible to bypass your rational mind and access the unconscious mind. When you are so deeply relaxed you are highly suggestible. The unconscious mind is the more powerful and is responsible for habits, long term memory, protection mechanisms and imagination. The unconscious mind can stubbornly hang on to behaviours that we just don't want or need anymore. Hypnotherapy is a powerful and safe treament.
So how does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by ensuring the client is deeply relaxed. In this deeply relaxed state your mind is highly suggestible and this is when negative thoughts and patterns can be replaced with new more helpful thoughts and behaviours.
